Holiday Drinks You Can Enjoy in the Hot Tub

Glasses of holiday egg nog surrounded by greenery and pinecones.

Nothing beats a relaxing soak in the hot tub. And, with the holidays upon us, it’s the perfect time of year to make your spa time a little more festive. So, if you want to enjoy some holiday cheer from the comfort of your hot tub, we can help. Check out our list of the top holiday mocktails to enjoy this season.

1. Apple Cranberry Spritzer

This classic is always a crowd-pleaser.

Mix together equal parts of apple juice and cranberry juice. Pour into glasses until about three-quarters full. Top up the glasses with Sprite. Garnish each drink with fresh cranberries and, if you have it, a sprig of rosemary.

2. Apple Cider Mock-Tini

If you love cider, this is a drink you’ll want to try.

In a saucepan, mix 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water, then add 2 cinnamon sticks and 1 inch of thinly sliced ginger root. Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved completely. Allow mixture to cool and then strain to remove ginger and cinnamon. Grab some martini glasses and wet the rims with apple cider before dipping them in cinnamon sugar. Next, add ice to a martini shaker and pour in 1 cup of apple cider and the syrup you prepared. Shake well and then pour into the prepared glasses. You can garnish each glass with an apple slice or cinnamon stick if you wish.

3. Light Eggnog

If you’re longing for a classic glass of eggnog without all of the calories, look no further. This non-alcoholic version is tasty and satisfying and comes in at only 304 calories per serving.

To make, add 4 cups of unsweetened almond milk, 6 egg yolks, 2/3 cup of raw honey, 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg and ½ a teaspoon of cinnamon to your blender. Mix well for about one minute. Pour mixture into a saucepan and add 1 tablespoon of whole cloves. Cook the eggnog over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, or until it thickens. The goal is to have your mixture become hot without reaching a boil. If it starts to simmer, simply remove your pan from the heat and stir it well before putting it back on the burner. Once the eggnog has thickened, remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Strain the mixture to remove the cloves and then refrigerate for a minimum of six hours. When serving, top each beverage with a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg.

4. Blood-Orange Italian Soda

If you want a less traditional drink that’s refreshing yet festive, this is the mocktail for you.

In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water. Mix together and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add the juice of three blood oranges to the mixture. Stir to combine. If you want to add a little bit of holiday colour to your drink, a drop of red food colouring will do the trick. Add about a ½ cup of Perrier to each glass followed by 2 tablespoons of the syrup you just prepared and ¼ cup of unsweetened coconut milk. Stir well. Garnish with mint and serve immediately.
